How do you react to receiving feedback? Do you find it hard to give feedback?
I have used the Learning Zone model by Tom Senninger in recent coaching sessions with leaders, and in training I have delivered to schools and teachers on giving and receiving feedback.
All too often we are in the ‘fear’ zone, feeling judged and concerned about other’s opinions.
The key to moving between these zones is self-awareness and a psychologically safe relationship of trust underpinning the feedback meeting.
There’s more to giving effective feedback, of course, but this is a cornerstone.
